Black, White, Red Look.

To use this tutorial, you must have a basic knowledge of Photoshop and its tools. Pictures are from Hogwarts-Gallery, Gettyimages, istockphoto and Google. Brushes are from Shanti, gender and Foley. The font for the swirl-thingie in the background is called Decadentia.

Take the picture of a open book, use a little drop shadow, add some scribbles (here I used some spells from Harry Potter Lexicon). In the middle I added the Hogwarts Logo, just desaturate it and set the layer to multiply. Since itīs supposed to be Ron' s book I added some ink splatter. :)

To make this even more personal I added a Gryffindor scarf, Ronīs wand (found with google) and some herbs. All underneath the layer with our book. The pictures of the herbs and the scarf had a white background so I set the layer to multiply. The wand had to be cut out and I added a little drop shadow.

Underneath the scarf I added the big letter in the font decadentia. In the lower right corner I put a small cauldron and in the upper left corner some coins from Gringotts. (use the google image search for them)

Now I added the frames for the pictures I want to use. Those can be found at istpckphoto. Always remember to desaturate every picture you use.

Now you can add the pictures undernaeth the layer with the frames. I always use the sharpen tool after I cropped them

.Since I love tape :) I added some to each picture, makes it a little more realistic. And of course we need a quill. Hey, weīre at Hogwarts. The quill was added in 2 layers. The first is set to normal and the second to multiply. Erase the background of the one set to normal.

Next I added the text, some more splatter and grunge brushes. Remember itīs Ron's book. ;) Plus the hearts (made with the custom shape tool) and the Love brush.

Now comes the color. Add a new layer above all the others and fill it with #520100. Set the layer to lighten.

At the end I added the pictures of Ron and Hermione from the new Harry Potter trailer. This time above the layer we filled with red. Thatīs it.
