Polaroid Tutorial.

I have gotten some questions on how I make my polaroids. So here we go. Again to use this tutorial, you must have a basic knowledge of Photoshop and itīs tools. Here the 3 pictures I used for this polaroid:

First make a copy of your plaroid picture (I never work on the original) and make a new canvas, make it a bit bigger then your original picture. Add your polaroid and select the black inside with the magic wand tool and press remove. You can now also add a little dropshadow to the polaroid (bascis settings, distance: 4px, spread: 0%, size 5px).

Itīs time to add orli. *g* To make the picture fit to the polaroid you can use the free transform tool. I kust love the smart blur filter and usually use it on every picture (radius: 1,1; threshold: 25,0). Now duplicate the Orlando picture and set it to soft light. On the one below use the diffuse glow filter (graininess: 0, glow amount: 4, clear amount: 15).

Now create a new layer above the polaroid and start adding some stains and grunge. For my version I used the watercolor brush sets from Tippy.

Time for some color donīt ya think? Take a very colorful picture, like the one I will use. Put it on top of your creation and use the motion blur filter (angle: -90, distance: 50px) on it. Now set it to screen. Now the colors are not so visible so I play a lot with brightness and contrast. For this version I duplicated the layer 2 times and moved them around and erased some parts. Just play around a little.

What I sometimes do now is duplicate the whole think (copy merged) and put it on top set to linear burn. Just erase the parts that come out kinda weird.

Still not really satisfied with the result? Play around some more. For my version I duplicated the Orlando pic we set to softlight, desaturated it and put it over the last layer.

Now you can add some text, brushes, play with the lips and eyes to make them more stand out.
